The Heat Rich List 2015 Revealed: 30 Richest British Stars Under 30

One Direction may have lost founding member Zayn Malik this year but the band have retained their title as Britain’s richest young things for a third consecutive year.

Following worldwide success One Direction entered the annual heat Rich List in 2012 at number five and soared straight to the top spot in 2013 where they have remained ever since.

Together (even having lost a fifth of their value), the band’s amassed a fortune is now estimated to be £82.08m, up 4.56m on last year.

Having announced his departure from the band in March, Zayn Malik makes his solo debut; he’s a new entry at number eight with estimated individual earnings of £20.52m.

Elsewhere in the top five Daniel Radcliffe is a non-mover in second place with £65.8m, as is Robert Pattinson in third with £51.04. Making a dramatic comeback with the launch of her third album, Adele jumps one place to number four with £38.1m just ahead of Emma Watson in fifth with £35.33m.

Ed Sheeran is this year’s highest new entry at number six, the 24-year old singer songwriter who has earned an estimated £35.2m, sold over 705,000 copies of his hit album ‘X’ this year. Fellow musician Sam Smith also makes a debut at number 16, the ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ singer is said to be worth £9.4m.

Other new entries include model Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley at 26, actor Nicholas Hoult at 27, Scottish comic Kevin Bridges at 28, singer Ellie Goulding at 29 and comedian and actor Jack Whitehall who is at 30. Jessie J makes a re-entry this year at number 17 having made her debut at 28 in 2013.

Now in its fifth year, the heat Rich List lays bare the wallets of Britain’s wealthiest young stars. A panel of industry experts analysed the stars’ financial dealings: the TV shows, movies, record sales and product endorsements, adding them together to work out how much money is in their celebrity bank vaults. Each entry has to be an entertainer, under the age of 30 and born in, or chiefly reside in, the UK.

Commenting on the results, heat editor Suzy Cox said: Even one member down, One Direction are the richest stars under-30 for the third year running. Though with their ‘break’ imminent in March, this could be Reggie ‘N’ Bollie’s time to steal their crown.”

Methodology:

The heat Rich List is an estimate of earnings, not wealth. Each judge is given a file on each of the contenders’ publicly declared business dealings. They then analysed the worth of each deal and came up with totals which were combined to make an average figure. The contenders were all 30 or under and born in, or chiefly reside in, the UK, and are entertainers (not including people whose income come primarily from sports, business or inheritance).

The Judges:

Jamie Laing

Made In Chelsea star Jamie is the founder of CandyKittens, the most glamorous sweet shop in the world.

James Herring: James is co-founder of Taylor Herring PR – one of the UK’s leading media and entertainment agencies. He’s worked with stars including Robbie Williams, Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand and Lord Sugar.

Suzy Cox: Suzy was editor of heat magazine.
